Jesus was who he was because he didn't want the credit for what he did, he simply wanted to build upon what was already created by those before him. He found it more profitable for the man to act, rather than speak of the event. In doing what was asked, he became a light to others. Since he was healed by God, living Godly was the best way Jesus thought to tell the story.
