During the time of Noah, it is said that the waters of the earth came from the ground and it rained not on the earth. Imagine, if you will, someone telling you it was going to flood and the world was going to be destroyed by water when you've never seen anything of the sort! People were living their lives normally up until the day of the great flood. Once the time came, it was too late to take action - it all happened before they knew it. This is how Jesus describes the end times and the moment of his return.
